Rules of Play

 

2008 USGA Rules of Golf and the following local rules govern play:

 

Out of Bounds is marked with green stakes with white caps AND FENCING BORDERING INNISBROOK PROPERTY.

 

Men play SILVER TEES on Copperhead & Highlands and WHITE TEES on Island. Ladies play JADE TEES (RED ON ISLAND).

 

The 14 club rule is waived. The one ball rule is not in effect.

 

LIFT, CLEAN AND PLACE IN YOUR OWN FAIRWAY, MAXIMUM 6 INCHES, NO NEARER TO THE HOLE.  BALL MAY NOT BE MOVED FROM FRINGE TO GREEN.

 

MAXIMUM SCORE OF 10 STROKES ON ANY HOLE. Pick up if and when you reach this point.

 

The following are considered immovable obstructions and relief may be taken from stance or swing only without penalty under Rule 24-2.

 

  • Posts

  • 150 yard markers (pampas grass bushes)

  • Golf course restroom structures, lodges, and other buildings on or adjacent to the golf course including paved walkways.

  • Paved roadways and paved paths

 

Newly-laid sod (unless marked with the white lines) is not considered ground under repair.

 

Red lines define lateral hazards.  White lines define ground under repair.  Yellow lines are used for maintenance purposes only and do not affect play.

 

Embedded ball rule is in effect through the green.  Please remember and use (if necessary) Doubt as to Procedure, Rule 3-3.

 

Relief under rule 25-1 may be taken for lie or stance from a rut made by a vehicle.

 

Rule 6-8, discontinuance of play is waived. Rule 7-1, practice rounds BETWEEN rounds is waived.

 

Local rules on scorecards do not apply. Specifically flower beds, azalea beds and other shrubbery are not free relief.

 

Spike marks on the green may be repaired.

 

Laser range finders and other yardage devices are permitted.

 

All ties except for the overall Championship will be determined by matching of scorecards beginning with the #1 handicap hole of the final round. Tie for the overall Championship will be decided by a sudden death playoff.

 

All decisions of the tournament committee are final.

 

Additional Information

 

We hope you enjoy the 30th annual Bill Currie Ford Golf Classic. Format of play is 54 hole medal play. Field will be divided into 15 flights. Flights determined by gross score after 36 holes of play. Priority will be given to having the fewest number of stokes between first and last place in each flight as opposed to the number of players in any given flight.

 

Flight Prizes:

 

  • 1st Place:    Taylor Made Irons 

  • 2nd Place:   Taylor Made Driver

  • 3rd Place:    Taylor Made cart golf bag

Rules of play are printed on the reverse side. Should you need a ruling in the absence of an official, play a provisional ball and get a ruling later.

 

If you play at 7:30 on Thursday, you play at 12:30 Friday. Thursday 12:30 players tee off at 7:30 on Friday. At conclusion of play, scorecards must be signed and attested then returned to scoreboard.

 

Daylight is limited. Please play READY GOLF. Rounds should take no longer than 4 ½ hours.

 

SATURDAY COURSE ASSIGNMENTS:

 

Approximately low 44 players will play Island with tee times beginning at 7:30. (last year’s cut off score for Island was 168).

 

The highest 40 (approximately) scores will play Highlands South with tee times beginning at 7:30.

 

The balance of the field (about 100 players) will play Highlands North (8:00 shotgun start).

 

Immediately following play Saturday, the awards Luncheon/Reception will be in STIRLING HALL. VALUABLE DOOR PRIZES WILL BE GIVEN AWAY. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN.

 

RAIN POLICY: Rule 6-8, discontinuance of play has been waived. In the event of rain, please use your discretion as to whether to continue play. Individuals have the option of “waiting out” a rain shower with no penalty. Please remember when deciding whether to play through a rain shower that every effort will be made to finish play.
